Jori Tapio Kalliola, 2023

Group exhibition "Fish and Fowl", Rauma Art Museum 10.6. - 29.10.2023.

In addition to the main exhibition inside the Art Museum, there are works in the courtyard, in the outbuildings and in the workshop space. Kalliola's works are in the Orelli park and in the stable.

The Rauma Art Museum celebrates in its upcoming summer exhibition "Bird and Fish!" which is about art that does not fit into ready-made categories. The exhibition highlights both the classics of contemporary folk art and the new promises in the field. In the themed exhibition, we consider different starting points for becoming an artist, and we ask who has the opportunity to make art in the future. The curators are Heta Kaisto, Elina Vuorimies, Helka Ketonen and Raija

Nature is strongly present in the exhibition. Various animals emerge from woodcuts, sculptures, media works and paintings – also from texts. Birds and fish emerge both as universal symbols of human culture and as personal figures of power, also as wounded angels. The exhibition highlights the deep and appreciative connection of ITE artists to nature and the environment. Ethical, ecological and art related political issues related to the life cycle of art environments are also considered. The exhibition also presents young contemporary artists.

Jori Tapio Kalliola works in the residency with the support of the Association for Rural Culture and Education.
