Yhteyksiä - Common Ground, 2007

RaumArs 1997 - 2007 -decennial celebration exhibition 6.10.2007. - 6.1.2008
RaumArs - happening in the city 6.-7.10.2007

Lönnström Art Museum had its most international art exhibition in the whole museum's history when "Yhteyksiä - Common Ground" was opened on the 6th of October, containing 25 artists consisting of 17 different nationalities.

All of the artists were familiar to the citizens of Rauma. From 1997, Rauma has been the center of an international, community art -focused and specialized residency program RaumArs. Artists are invited to create art projects in Satakunta area. Yhteyksiä - Common Ground -exhibition at Lönnström Art Museum gathered the artists together from the past 10 years of RaumArs' activity. During the exhibition, Turku Art Academy communal art students also held their own exhibition in the Studio of Pihatalo.

During the exhibition 6. – 7.10.2007 was organized RaumArs - happening in the city -festival weekendduring which the citizens were able to enjoy fun, free and multicultural art events all around the city. A cherry on the top were the world championship competition in Afrikan tähti (a Finnish board game) held at the Rauma city theatre.

RaumArs projects have brought art and artists to uncommon places. These projects have given the locals mental stimulus and also enriched the world view of the international artist guests. Our first guest artist was a Chinese-Canadian Chan Ky-Yut who directed workshops about Creative Energy in Lönnström Art Museum in 1997. Afterwards Rauma has been visited by around 40 foreign artists who have implemented their art projects with hundreds of citizens.

Yhteyksiä - Common Ground -exhibition introduced art works by artist who have worked in Rauma in the past and bring forth the nature of community art. The artworks in the exhibition were ones that the audience could be part of, edit or continue them, making the audience stir.
