July 31–August 29: Covering Light -exhibition. Paintings and textile sculptures by Viivi Osmonen, originally from Rauma, in the Sirkka's room.
Covering Light explores idleness, boredom, and a lack of stimuli through painting and textile art. The works emerged from slowing down, being present, idle gazing, and a longing for a simpler way of life. They are a wanderer's notes on the moments of a carefree day. The exhibition invites viewers to immerse themselves in the details of the living environment: shimmering light across a bedspread, foliage swaying beyond the window, and clouds carried by the wind.
Viivi Osmonen (b. 2000, Rauma, Finland) is a visual artist who graduated from the Turku Arts Academy in 2024. She lives and works in Kaarina. Her work has been exhibited at KUBU on Kimitoön Island, Rajatila Gallery in Tampere, B-gallery in Turku, and Galleria Uusi Kipinä in Lahti. She has also participated in several group exhibitions, most recently the 102nd Annual Exhibition of the Turku Artists' Association at Kunsthalle Turku.
