RaumArs ry – Rauma Artist-In-Residence programme was founded in 1997 on the initiative of the Lönnström Museums. In 1999, RaumArs was registered and started to operate as an independent association.
The background of the activity is influenced by the area's art and culture institutions, artists and private individuals interested in the activity. The purpose of RaumArs is to promote the region's cultural offering by producing open, interesting and high-level art projects for everyone. Through community and environmental art projects, art moves closer to the townspeople and also enables the development of national and international connections between Satakunta artists and cultural sector operators.
The RaumaArs residence has been located at several different addresses in Rauma. In 2024, the association signed a lease agreement with the City of Rauma for the so-called Seppä's House, which was renovated to provide the association space for both residency and exhibition activities. While the City of Rauma was renovating the house, the board of the association was planning the details of the house to suit its activities, as well as new exhibition activities for the association. When the year 2024 turned into 2025, Seppä's House was transformed into the Art House RaumArs.
