6.2.–14.3.2026 A joint exhibition by three interesting artists. RaumArs ry's new initiative highlights newly graduated visual artists and offers a few selected artists free exhibition space at the Art House RaumArs gallery each year. Our goal is to act as an enabler and offer support to artists at the beginning of their careers, as well as opportunities for networking in the field of art. The artists featured in the exhibition were selected last spring from the Laitamilla (On the Outskirts) SAMK (Kankaanpää School of Fine Arts) graduation exhibition held at Gallery ArsPori.
Outa Vertti Antikainen works with sound, light, and movement. He explores his relationship with his homeland, Lapland, which is undergoing major changes due to growing tourism and modernization. Her works are based on a piece inspired by these contradictions, and the strong contrasts between light and shadow bring out emotions in which mountains can shrink to the size of stones and the smallest, most insignificant sorrow can grow larger than the world itself.
Petra Holkko explores the contradictions of human experience. Although the works focus on the inner world, physicality is still visually at the center of the paintings. Holkko brings out emotions with her brushstrokes, as raw and unpleasant as they can be in the human mind.
Jukka Olkkonen uses watercolours to paint realistic paintings in which he captures random encounters and everyday scenes. The depiction of empty, lonely spaces gives the works a charged atmosphere, with the scenes in the paintings also serving as a kind of stage on which one can sense both human absence and presence at the same time.
RaumArs is organizing a mentoring event for newly graduated artists on art and art-making together with a group of people from the Satakunta art scene. The event will be attended by Anni Venäläinen, Anni Saisto, Arttu Merimaa, and Mirja Ramstedt-Salonen from the Pori Art Museum; Taina Myllyharju and Susanna Liikala from the Rauma Art Museum; local visual artists Jaakko Niemelä and Vilma Wallenström; and Jere Lahdenperä, Hannele Kolsio, Katariina Mannio-Turunen, and Hannu Raevuori from RaumArs association.
