In September, an exhibition by three painters will be on display in Art House. Raija Marttinen, Reija Palo-oja and Hanna Räty are now bringing their exhibition series to Rauma: ON PAINTING IV.

The exhibition focuses on the art of painting and the significance of painting. The works convey a strong personal attachment to painting and a distinctly independent way of working. They are united by a long-standing artistic career, a working partnership and a friendship in which painting has been a constant companion as their life circumstances and locations have changed. This body of work, which reveals their shared world from different perspectives, is profound, sensuous and airy. The exhibition offers a fresh and new insight into the work of these three painters.

Raija Marttinen:
Time and memory, remembering and forgetting are recurring themes in my work. I reflect on looking and seeing. I explore my own way of looking and ponder the foundations of my visual memory.

Reija Palo-oja:
In my paintings, the dialogue between different surfaces and fragments forms wholes in which control and chance, planning and impulse coexist.

Hanna Räty:
I enjoy the immediacy of painting and the slow passage of time. I paint not only my own history but also transgenerational and universally human themes, seeking to tap into collective memory.
