Our August artist-in-residence, Kimberly Ellen Hall, has created an entire store, complete with merchandise, in just a few weeks in the former U.Suominen local shop at Lensunkatu 4.

The Experimental shop is a place where we can explore history, stories, and objects. The products for sale are inspired by the history of the store space, but they’ve also been influenced by Rauma as it is today. Shop visitors are invited to buy products made by the artist, and they can choose their own payment method.

Each item for sale has a price tag with payment options: cash, exchange or activity.

Artist Kimberly Ellen Hall (USA/UK) is interested in how artists and creators can influence changing perceptions of consumption. Transparency, value, extraction and profit are important themes in her work. She has been making objects for sale since she was a little girl and believes that commerce can be much more interesting than just a means to money and power.
